Glam Black Mirror

As I build my very own hollywood glam space, I keep looking for pieces that add a special touch. As I scour through websites and books trying to really understand the details of Hollywood Regency decor I fall in love with several mirrors... like this one listed on Ebay for $629!!

Soooo. My search begins. I kept coming across this mirror on Craigslist, listed by a local thrift store:  FOR ONLY $25!!!!!!!  Woo-Hoo!
I taped off the inside portion with the help of my trusty blue tape and the most recent Crate & Barrell catalog. (after I finished my shopping, of course)

Then, I did about 4-5 light coats of Rust-Oleum Lacquer spray paint in black. (my favorite as of late) I did all these light coats to ensure I got good coverage in all the little nooks and crannies this mirror has.
By the way... I have a new best friend. I was having an issue with chronic spray paint finger... no longer an issue. Maybe the whole world knows about this, but I was pretty excited to find out about it. :) cheap thrills, what can I say!
Ta-Da!! I love this thing!

Anyhow, I took the finished mirror and placed it on the wall above my bench. I LOVE IT!!! and it wasn't $629. :)   $25 bucks, plus some spray paint, and a little love is all it takes. I present my Hollywood Glam Mirror for under $30!

What do you think? I am debating if I want to add a coat of glossy finish to give it a little extra shine.
Yes? No?

  5. What a great job you did and such a bargain. I'm always looking for ways around paying so much $ for things. I like your thinking. Personally, I wouldn't make it too shiny. I like the idea of a little rub n buff too. Great job.

  10. I stumbled across your blog (from All Things Thrifty Giveaway - Congrats!) This mirror project worked out amazing! I recently tried this with a mirror, but unfortunately the spray paint went through and onto the mirror! Oh well, live and learn, luckily the mirror I ruined had only been a few bucks, I'll need to try it your way next time!
